Judy Straseske, 62

Judy D. (Wheeler) Straseske, 62, of Watertown, Wisconsin, formerly of Alexandria, passed away on Monday October 17, 2011 at the University Hospital – Madison with her family at her side.

Judy D. (Wheeler) Straseske, 62, of Watertown, Wisconsin, formerly of Alexandria, passed away on Monday October 17, 2011 at the University Hospital – Madison with her family at her side.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 29 at 5 p.m. with Pastor John Martinson officiating at Nelson Gables Governors Room. Visitation will be on Saturday October 29 at 4 p.m. until the time of service.

Judy was born on July 17, 1949 in Holmes City, the daughter of Norman and Sylvia (Lokken) Hjelm.

Judy was united in marriage on February 4, 1967 to LeRoy Wheeler and to this union were blessed with four children.

She married Thomas Straseske on Jan. 31, 2004 in Watertown.

Judy worked in hotel management for 25 years in Alexandria and also provided daycare service in Watertown. She was a member of the Alexandria VFW Post Women’s Auxiliary.

Loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, who brought life, love and laughter to all. With a zest for life like no other, she loved dancing, entertaining, camping, canoeing, and watching sunsets with her husband at her home on the river. She especially loved spending time with her grandkids goofing around and laughing. Judy also looked forward to the annual family reunion on Lake Moses and the friendly, yet competitive golf scramble each year before the reunion. She was known far and wide for her exuberant hugs, which will be missed by all.

Survivors include: husband Thomas Straseske of Watertown; daughter Angie (Tom) Salto of Alexandria; son Mike (Tanya) Wheeler of Buffalo; three stepsons Erik Straseske of Watertown, Wisconsin, Shane Straseske of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Lee Straseske of Lake Mills, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren, Blaine Wheeler, Brittany Tripp, Jasmine Everett, Chelsey Salto, Jon Salto, Lily Wheeler and Mason Wheeler; two step-grandchildren, Malakai Straseske and Bella Straseske; great-grandson Aiden Flaherty; four sisters, Doris (Del) Carter of Spring Park, Babe (Ron) Jacobson of Brandon, Lois (Doug) Backlund of Brandon and Donna (Terry) Rice of Willmar; four brothers Tom (Darlene) Roiland of Mound, Sonny (Nancy) Hjelm of Hoffman, Arvid (Mary) Hjelm of Anoka, and Greg (Deb) Hjelm of Glenwood; mother-in-law Marian Straseske of Lakeland, Florida; two sisters-in-law, Sandi (Tim) Lloyd of Lakeland, Florida and Margaret Straseske of Cottage Grove; two brothers-in-law, Royce Larson of Minneapolis and Tony (Lyn) Straseske of Lansing, Michigan; also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Patrick Wheeler; daughter, Lisa Wheeler; sister, Doddy Larson; brother, Jim Roiland; father-in-law Clayton Straseske and brother-in-law Kenneth Straseske.

Memorials to Big Brothers Big Sisters would be appreciated.

I am so sorry for your loss and so sorry I couldnt make it to the funeral. Judy was an amazing person and she will be very missed!
