Orrin G. Heieie, 79, of Brooten died Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood.

Orrin G. Heieie, 79, of Brooten died Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 26, at 11 a.m. at Big Grove Lutheran Church in rural Belgrade.

Orrin Glen Heieie was born on July 24, 1932 on the family farm in North Fork Township, the son of Otto and Gilma (Nelson) Heieie. He attended country grade school, graduated from Brooten High School in 1949, and then began his profession as a dairy farmer.

On June 30, 1957, Orrin was united in marriage to Joanne Rollofson at Lincoln Lutheran Church near Hoffman. To this union four daughters and two sons were born. They lived on the family farm until his retirement in 1995 when they moved to Brooten. Orrin and Joanne were blessed with 54 years of marriage.

Orrin was a lifelong member of Big Grove Lutheran Church, serving as an usher and member of the choir and church council. He was also active in community organizations including 4-H, the Creamery Board and the North Fork Township Board. Over his lifetime, his leisure activities included softball, horseshoes, bowling, card games and playing the accordion. He was proud of his Norwegian heritage and enjoyed all social gatherings. Most of all, he loved his family and friends.

Orrin is survived by his wife, Joanne; children, Karla (Todd) Sorensen, Kayla (Jerry) Breen, Nancy (Paul) Gesell, Todd (Sara) Heieie, Neal Heieie and Melissa Heieie (Russ Buckley); 14 grandchildren; and two siblings, Dorothy Heieie and Ralph Heieie.

Orrin was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Victoria; brother, Belvin; and sister, Merle.
