He attended country school and helped his dad on the farm. Morrie enlisted into the United States Army and served overseas in the Philippines and Korea from 1945 to 1947.

During his involvement in the Lions he started more than 500 clubs. He held many positions and volunteered many hours of his time to the Golden Brothers and the Forada Lions Club. He was awarded the Melvin Jones Award, the Hall of Fame Award, and many other awards for his dedication and service to Lions.
Morrie enjoyed carpentry and built his home on Lake L’Homme Dieu, where he enjoyed relaxing on the deck. He also built beautiful furniture for his grandchildren over the years. Morrie enjoyed cooking and grilling. He always worked hard and thought of others first before his own needs. He was a kind, compassionate and patient man who never complained.
