Rosemary Elodie Christensen, age 80, of Osakis and formerly of Farwell, died Thursday, September 8, 2011, at Galeon Senior Living Center in Osakis.

Rosemary Elodie Christensen, age 80, of Osakis and formerly of Farwell, died Thursday, September 8, 2011, at Galeon Senior Living Center in Osakis.

Rosemary, daughter of Jules and Elizabeth (Jennen) VanOverbeke, was born September 12, 1930, in Ghent. She attended St. Edward Catholic Church and graduated from Minneota High School. Rosemary furthered her education by attending one year of college before becoming a sister in a convent for eight years. During that time she worked at a home for boys in Minneapolis. After leaving the convent, she worked at a bank in Minnesota until her marriage to Lawrence Christensen on January 3, 1959 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota. The couple made their home on a farm near Farwell.

Rosemary was a homemaker and assisted Lawrence with chores and field work while raising their three children. She belonged to the ladies church group at Our Lady of the Runestone Church, the Runestone Radio Club, the Civil Air Patrol and the American Legion Auxiliary of Kensington #268. Rosemary loved to spend time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed fishing, gardening, crocheting baby afghans, reading, listening to music and watching movies.

Rosemary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend whose love and kindness will continue to live on in the memories and hearts of her family and friends.

Rosemary is survived by her husband, Lawrence Christensen of Farwell; three children, Annette (Larry) Mammenga of Ramsey, Daniel (Marcella) Christensen of Vermillion, and Julie (Huntz Didier) Blair of Osakis; six grandchildren, Rebecca, Marty Jr., Eric (Jennifer), Lewis, Whitney and Stephanie; two step-grandchildren, Rachael and Christine; one great-grandson, Easton; six step-great-grandchildren, Ginna, Katie, Christopher, Jason, Jordyn and Jayden; a brother, Michael VanOverbeke of Hutchinson; and two sisters, Marjorie Spartz of Northfield and Patricia Gebes of Lansing, MI.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Helene Moorse.

Mass of Christian Burial was held September 13 at Our Lady of the Runestone Catholic Church in Kensington, with Father Roger Thoennes officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Our Lady of the Runestone Cemetery, Kensington.

Casket bearers for the service were Marty Byers Jr., Eric Christensen, Lewis Blair, Brent Koukol, Greg Moorse and Grant Hollerman. Lynn Bruss was organist and Stephanie Christensen was reader. Cross bearer was Whitney Blair and the Bible bearer was Rebecca Christensen. Gift bearers were Rachel Tandberg and Kristy Mannenga.
