Dennis L. Anderson, 60, Ashby, died Friday, August 12, 2011 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Dennis L. Anderson, 60, Ashby, died Friday, August 12, 2011 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Dennis was born January 9, 1951 in Fergus Falls to Andy and Elaine (Olson) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church, where he was also a member. He grew up in Ashby and graduated from Ashby High School in 1969. He then attended Fergus Falls Community College for two years and then Moorhead State University for two years.

He worked for Nelson-Paulson Construction for several years before he started working for the First State Bank of Ashby.

He was united in marriage to Marcia Thronson on September 1, 1975. The couple made their home in Ashby where they raised their three daughters. Marcia passed away on February 1, 1994. Dennis served as a Grant County commissioner until Marcia’s death, when he chose to raise his daughters. He continued to live in Ashby where he enjoyed many activities such as hunting, fishing, riding his Harley, spending time at his land, reading, traveling, eating breakfast at the restaurant and sitting on his deck enjoying the beautiful sunsets. He especially enjoyed spending time with his five grandchildren. In the past few years, Dennis enjoyed sharing the love and friendship of Linda Williams.

He is survived by his daughters and their children, Bridget (Paul) Pavlas of Zimmerman and Jack and Isabel; Lindsey (Cail) Morrison of Stillwater and Charlie; and Andrea (Bo) Hicks of Stillwater and Stella and Will; his parents, Andy and Elaine Anderson of Ashby; his special friend, Linda Williams of Ashby; four sisters, Bonnie (Jim) Blondeau of Ashby, Gwen (Jim) Risbrudt of Ashby, Beatrice (Jr.) Matson of Florida and Mona (Tom) Slack of Evansville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcia; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Oswald and Lila Thronson; and his nephew and godson, Darin Slack.

Funeral services were held August 17 at First Presbyterian Church in Ashby with the Rev. William O. Gilbert III officiating. Burial was at Pelican Lake Cemetery in Ashby.
