Delores Rosella (Klukken) Nelson, 83, Alexandria, died Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Bethany Home.

Delores was born April 23, 1927 in Osakis Township, Todd County, to Olaus and Petra (Stenoien) Klukken. She was baptized and confirmed at Elim Lutheran Church in Osakis. She graduated from Osakis High School and moved to Brandon to work at the Citizen’s State Bank.

Delores was united in marriage to Hillard Nelson at Elim Lutheran Church in Osakis. The couple built a home in rural Brandon where Hillard farmed. Delores and Hillard were blessed with five children, Duane, Ron, Steve, Neil and Tim. Delores was very busy with her boys and raising them. Home was her community until the end, where her door was always open to all and the coffee was always on.

In 1977, they became members of Grace Lutheran Church, in which she was very active; from being a Sunday school teacher to being the first female president of the Church Council and everything in between.

Delores enjoyed the farm settings so she enjoyed Sunday drives seeing the countryside. She loved their place on the lake, watching the sunset, a newborn calf on the hill, and rainbows. She also loved to cook, making cakes and lefsa. Many people besides her grandchildren called her “Grandma Dee.” She also was a mom to all. Her hobbies included playing Scrabble and cryptograms, making quilts, and of course, her flowers.

Delores is survived by her sons, Duane (Marilyn) of Seattle, WA, Ron (Pat) of Bloomington, Steve (Jean) of Brandon, Tim (Cindy) of Meeker, CO; adopted daughter, Sue (Bob) of Independence, MN; grandchildren, Lindsey, Kristi, Kevin, Kendra, Ryan, Kurt, Ryan, and Steve; great-grandchildren, Addison, Michelle, Stephanie, Ronald, Veronica, Morgan, Kallie, Logan and Kacey; sister, Elizabeth (Donald) Johnson of Roscoe, IL; brother, Bill Klukken of Miles City, MT; many nieces and nephews; godchildren, Carol Holmberg, Alison Berg, Judy Navarro, Renee Brethorst, Russell Olson, Jared Olson and Wayne Nylander.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Olaus and Petra; son, Neil Kenneth; brothers and sisters, Orville Klukken, Beulah Sunde, Helen Lehse, Violet Klukken, Donald Klukken and twin brother, David Klukken.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 20 at Grace Lutheran Church in Brandon with the Rev. Dennis Preston officiating. Music was provided by soloists, Kelly Smith and the Rev. Dennis Preston, and organist, Annette Helder. Interment was at Brandon Cemetery. Casket bearers were Russell Olson, Jared Olson, Wayne Nylander, Dan Johnson, David Lehse, Mark Klukken, Bryce Brethorst and Brad Sunde. Honorary casket bearer was Tom Schiele.

Arrangements are with Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria; www.andersonfuneral.net.
