Richard D. Lucas, a longtime Hood River, Oregon resident, died January 21, 2010 at Mid-Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles, Oregon.

Richard D. Lucas, a longtime Hood River, Oregon resident, died January 21, 2010 at Mid-Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles, Oregon.

Services will be held Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Anderson’s Tribute Center.

Dick Lucas was born May 2, 1935 in Alexandria to Clifford and Savina (Rhodes) Lucas. He was raised and educated in Minnesota and then served in the U.S. Army. In 1958 he and Bonita Melby were married in Westford, South Dakota. Following their marriage, they came to Hood River where he owned and operated Hood River Plumbing and Heating for 30 years, retiring in 1997.

He attended Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, was a 50-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a 41-year member of the Elks Lodge. Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Lucas in 1980, two brothers and a sister.

Dick is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bonita Lucas of The Dalles, Oregon; son, David Lucas and his wife Traci of Hood River, Oregon; daughters Lori Morinville of Astoria, Oregon, Robin Taylor and her husband Matt of Gresham, Oregon; sisters Phyllis Olson of Evansville and Pauline Peerboom of Minneapolis; a brother, Hugh Lucas of West Virginia; several half brothers and sisters; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Private interment will be at Idlewilde Cemetery.
