Alice Rose Riedel, 72, Parkers Prairie, died Friday, December 18, 2009 at St. Williams Living Center in Parkers Prairie.

Alice Rose Riedel, 72, Parkers Prairie, died Friday, December 18, 2009 at St. Williams Living Center in Parkers Prairie.

Alice was born October 15, 1937 to John and Elizabeth (Christman) Neumiller in Heaton, North Dakota. She grew up in the Heaton area and attended country school. Following her education she worked as a housekeeper in Fargo.

She answered an advertisement for a housekeeper in Parkers Prairie for George Riedel, which she accepted. They fell in love and were married October 18, 1959, in Bowdon, North Dakota. Following their marriage they continued living in Parkers Prairie and dairy farmed on the second generation Riedel family farm. Her husband, George, died in March of 1999. She continued living on the family farm with her son Don’s family until the time of her death.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and LWML. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, flower and vegetable gardening and canning. She loved listening to music, especially Alan Jackson.

Alice is survived by two daughters, Terri (Steve) Payne of Parkers Prairie and Brenda (Karl) Peters of Battle Lake; two sons, Donald (Michelle) Riedel of Parkers Prairie and James (Lesa) Riedel of Osakis; two brothers, Clarence (Ellen) Neumiller of Vancouver, Washington and Jacob (Kaye) Neumiller of Oak Harbor, Washington; two sisters, Frieda (Kenneth) Watson and Iola (Daryl) Rask, both of Carrington, North Dakota; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; eight sisters and five brothers.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 22 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie with the Rev. Kirk Lee officiating. Music was provided by organist, Dean Swanson and vocalist, Dedra Zwieg. Burial was at Parkers Prairie Cemetery.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Anthony Payne, Kristine Payne, Andrew Payne, Brian Peters, Dustin Peters, Benjamin Peters, Ande Riedel, Ethan Riedel, Colton Riedel, Nathan Riedel, Angela Payne, Aaron Payne, Auston Payne, Kolby Peters and Landon Peters.
