Beverly Rooney, 73, Alexandria, died December 15, 2009 at her home with her family surrounding her.
Beverly was born September 28, 1936 in Red Lake Falls to Myrtle and Peter Larson. Her family moved to Thief River Falls and that is where she graduated from high school in 1954.
Beverly moved to Alexandria in 1954 and began working at Osterbergs Café. That is where she met Edward Rooney in 1955. They were married on October 22, 1955 and have resided in Alexandria ever since.
Over the years Beverly worked at Cowing Robards with Ed, she also worked with her son, Mike, at Our Own Hardware in Parkers Prairie and owned the 601 Deli. But most importantly, Beverly was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother. She also worked at home and provided love, wonderful meals and a constant source of witty humor and positive guidance for us all. Beverly will always be remembered for her incredible attitude, her outlook even in the face of sadness or illness. She always made others feel better and reminded all of us to be grateful for what we have – such a gift.
Beverly loved to be in her kitchen cooking and baking. She loved to read and learn, sewing, quilting and working with her houseplants. She also enjoyed her lunches with friends.
Beverly is survived by her husband, Edward; sons, Mike and Dan of Alexandria; daughter, Barb of Big Sky, Montana; daughters-in-law, Deb and Colleen of Alexandria; five grandchildren, Anthony Thoennes, Aaron and Brittany Rooney, Eddie and Frankie Starz; granddaughter-in-law, Melissa (Roers) Thoennes; brother, Ken and sister-in-law, Darlene Larson of Dallas, Oregon.
