Walter was born March 17, 1919 in Evansville Township to Herman and Caroline (Holmes) Bakke.
He was united in marriage to Margaret Loch in April of 1943. To this union, three children were born, Robert, Larry and Diane.
He is survived by two children, Larry of Elk River, Diane and Ron Rymer of Coon Rapids; two grandchildren, Derek O’Bryan of Maple Grove and Gregory Bakke of Elk River; great-grandson, Jordan; and two brothers, Harvey Bakke and Kenneth Bakke.
He was preceded in death by two wives, Margaret and Hazel; son, Robert; brothers, Clifford, Milton, Henry and James; half-brother, Dale Davis; and sisters, Thea Angeldorf, Alice Bohman and Doris Bakke.
A memorial service was held Saturday, November 28 at Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Marilee Bergerson officiating. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery.
