Guadalupe “Lupe” Martinez Thorson has faithfully celebrated 62 years of her life to her family, friends and country.
Guadalupe “Lupe” Martinez Thorson has faithfully celebrated 62 years of her life to her family, friends and country. She died on Friday, November 6, 2009 at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul.
Guadalupe was born February 1, 1947 in Las Cruces, New Mexico, to Alfredo and Maria (Vallejos) Martinez. She graduated from high school in California and attended two years of college at San Jose State. Lupe served her country in the United States Air Force.
On April 21, 1968, Lupe was united in marriage to Chet Thorson. The family lived in California after their marriage and in the early 1980s moved to Alexandria. While living in Alexandria she helped Chet manage the books of their business.
Lupe always welcomed people into her home. She loved spending time with her family and attending their different functions. Her biggest achievement was being the best person she could be and always helping others.
She is survived by her husband, Chestel; children, Erik (Amy) Thorson, Sonja (Joe) Berton, Elisa (Brent) Ploof, Chestel Richard Thorson; grandchildren, Amber and Adam Hermanson, Katerina and Nicolas Thorson, Brigham, Spencer and Sinclaire Ploof; great-grandchildren, Marley, Skylin and Savannah Flautch; siblings, Rita Thiessen, Louis Martinez, Margie Campos, Estella Apodaca, Jose Martinez, Abran Martinez, Miquela Ramos and Raymond Martinez.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfredo and Maria Martinez.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, November 10 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Luke Steiner O.S.B. officiating. Burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Erik Thorson, Adam Hermanson, Roger Apodaca, Joe Berton, Jose Martinez, Carlos Martinez and Reymundo Martinez Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Nicolas Thorson, Katerina Thorson, Amber Fautch, Savannah Fautch, Skylin Fautch, Marley Fautch, Brigham Ploof, Spencer Ploof and Sinclarie Ploof.
