Cindy was born August 11, 1956 in Minneapolis to Paul “Butch” and Shirley (Smith) Foslien. She grew up in Coon Rapids, where she graduated from high school in 1975.
On June 28, 1975 Cindy was united in marriage to Michael Allen at the Church of the Epiphany in Coon Rapids. They made their home in Coon Rapids where they were blessed with three daughters, Jessica, Dawn and Sarah.
Cindy worked for Deluxe Check printing for 17 years. Later, in the Alexandria area, Cindy worked for Lakes Area Garage, 3M, American Business Solutions and the Brass Lantern. Most recently she was a caregiver at the Peaceful Bliss home in Alexandria.
As a child Cindy visited Lobster Lake near Alexandria during summers and weekends. Several of her relatives lived on the lake and in the area. In 1992 Cindy and Michael purchased 10 acres by the lake. In 2002 they made their home there. Cindy loved lake living and spending time at the lake visiting with her family and friends. She enjoyed boating, snowmobiling and flower gardening. Cindy loved going on vacations. She traveled through much of the United States and especially enjoyed tropical vacations in Florida, Hawaii, Mexico and Jamaica. Cindy also enjoyed a wide variety of music, especially classic country music. Spending time with her family was very important to Cindy. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren.
Her father, Paul Foslien, and son-in-law, Robert Wilkens, preceded her in death.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Michael Allen of Lobster Lake; mother, Shirley Foslien of Coon Rapids; three daughters, Jessica Engstrom and fiance, Al Horst, of Coon Rapids, Dawn Wilkens of Andover and Sarah and husband, Ted Fletcher, of Richfield; brother, Michael Foslien and fiancée, Kathy Thornbald, of New Prague; three sisters, Deborah and husband, Doug Haugen, of Anoka, Pamela and husband, Gene Petroske, of Anoka and Brenda Freidlund and fiance, Bob Lund, of Blaine; four grandchildren, Andrea Engstrom, Leah Engstrom, Gavin Engstrom and Parker Wilkens; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service was held Saturday, October 31 at West Moe Lutheran Church near Brandon, with the Rev. Don Clifford as officiant. Barb Gulbranson provided music. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Casket bearers included Mike Foslien, Frank Foslien, Gary Foslien, Bruce Nelson, Gene Petroske and Scott Putnam. Honorary casket bearers included Robert Wilkens, Parker Wilkens and Gavin Engstrom.
