Stanley F. Skurat, age 86, of Harrison, Arkansas, died Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center.

Stanley F. Skurat, age 86, of Harrison, Arkansas, died Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center.

Stanley was born July 9, 1923 in Glenwood to Emil and Hattie (Ganske) Skurat.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling, golfing, fishing, hunting, gardening, dancing, woodworking, farming and discussing politics.

He was a founding member of National Farmers Organization of Minnesota, he worked for Boeing Aircraft in California. He served in World War II and received the Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal in Japan. He also qualified as a sharpshooter (Rifle M1) while in service.

Stanley is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, LuAnn and Steve Henrikson of Harrison, June and Dennis Sisco of Western Grove, Linda and Roger Williams of Willard, Missouri, and Heidi and Jacob Harris of Oregon; six grandchildren, Craig Henrikson, Scott and Jeremy Sisco, Samantha and Chad Williams, and Daria Harris; five great-grandchildren, Alexus Henrikson, Payton Sisco, Logan Sisco, Brett Williams and Landon Williams; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Ann (Bagstad) Skurat, whom he married on September 9, 1953; brother, Russell Skurat; sisters, Dorothy Skurat, Laverne Shanahan and Shirley Myers; and his grandson, Josh Sisco.

A graveside funeral service was held Friday October 16 at Maplewood Cemetery with Brother Dennis Sisco officiating. Pallbearers were Roger Williams, Steve Henrikson, Chad Williams, Craig Henrikson, Scott Sisco and Matt Miller. Honorary pallbearers were Jeremy Sisco, Jacob Harris, Dr. Kevin Jackson, Dr. Scott Ferguson, third floor nursing staff at NARMC, Jack Lawson, Bro. Johnny Walters, nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Hospice House of Harrison, 501 E. Sherman, Harrison, AR 72601.
