Leo was born August 11, 1924 in Fergus Falls to Marvin and Mabel (Larson) Howe. He grew up in Evansville and graduated from Evansville High School. From 1943 to 1946, he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Burma with the Veterinary Corps.
Following his military service, he worked in Idaho in forest service and on a ranch. After returning to Minnesota, he worked road construction. He began working for the U.S. Postal Service and was a rural mail carrier in Evansville until retiring in 1984. On July 1, 1967, he married Barbara Borgrud in Evansville.
Leo was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church and enjoyed hunting, trapping, woodworking and logging.
He is survived by a daughter, Melissa Howe of Evansville; a brother, Richard (Arlene) Howe of Garfield and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara, on August 7, 2005; brothers, Gordon and Norman; and a sister, Yvonne.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 23 at St. Petri Lutheran Church in rural Brandon with the Rev. Dave Gran officiating. Burial was at Mound Grove Cemetery in Evansville.
