Connie Anderson, 103, Evansville, died Sunday, April 19, 2009, at Crestview Manor Nursing Home.

Connie was born July 30, 1905 to Olaf and Kristina (Lundlie) Satterlund. She attended school at District 88, south of Garfield. As a young woman, she went to Minneapolis for employment, working as a domestic in various homes before becoming a waitress at General Hospital. She also worked at Blakes By the Lake.

On May 2, 1934, she married Aaron Anderson and they purchased a small farm west of Garfield where they lived for 43 years. She was Aaron’s helpmate, assisting with the farm chores, raising chickens, selling eggs, raising a garden and running the household. She taught piano lessons to many in the community and in the early 1950s expanded her piano teaching by going into the schools at Garfield and Brandon. Music was an integral part of her life. Even after retirement she continued to teach piano and enjoyed playing for all who would listen.

In 1979, she and Aaron moved from their farm into Brandon, where she lived for the next 14 years. Aaron died July 3, 1984 and in 1992 Connie moved into Crestview Manor.

Connie was a member of Lake Chippewa Covenant Church of Garfield, later transferring to Calvary Covenant Church in 1980. For more than 40 years she served as organist and music director. She was involved in Ladies Aid, serving on the board in many capacities. She was also an active member of the Gideon’s Auxiliary and the Brandon Garden Club. Her beautiful African violets were her pride and joy. She was a wonderful hostess and enjoyed the company of her many friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Orlin) Tangren of Brooklyn Park; five grandchildren, Daniel (Linda) Tangren, Dwight (Ellen) Tangren, Dean (Stacy) Tangren, all of the Twin Cities area, Diane (Steve) Tack of Hartland, MI and Denise (Mike) Koch of Eagan; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron; brothers, Gideon, Milton and Joseph; and an infant grandson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 25 at 11 a.m. at Calvary Covenant Church in Evansville with the Rev. Mick Murphy officiating. Burial will be at Mound Grove Cemetery in Evansville.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
