Luverne Bergren

Luverne M. Bergren, 86, of Lake Park, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2009, in Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes. Visitation will take place from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, at Wright Funeral Home in Lake Park, with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, March 19 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, rural Audubon, with interment following at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Audubon.

Luverne M. Bergren, 86, of Lake Park, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2009, in Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes.

Luverne was born to Julius and Gertrude (Munder) Riebe on Nov. 20, 1922 in Frazee, where she grew up and married Walter Bergren in August 1943. Together they farmed and made their home in the Audubon-Lake Park area.

Surviving Luverne are her five children, Carol (Gene) Sletmoen of Moorhead, Jim Bergren of Detroit Lakes, Richard (Cindee) Bergren of Tulsa, Okla., Tom Bergren of Lake Park and Don (Beth) Bergren of Braham, Minn.; 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; brother, Rod (Shirley) Riebe of Frazee; and sisters, Grace Blaine of Frazee and Linda Peterson of Dilworth.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Walter; parents, Julius and Gertrude; two brothers, James and Jerry; and two sisters, Marge and Helen.

Visitation will take place from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, at Wright Funeral Home in Lake Park, with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, March 19 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, rural Audubon, with interment following at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Audubon.
