David Stone

Former Ponsford resident David L. Stone, 48, of Walla Walla, Wash., died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Walla Walla. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Monday, March 16 and continue until the time of services Tuesday at the Old Pine Point School. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 17 at the Old Pine Point School, Ponsford, with the Rev. Lisa Smith officiating. Interment will be in Breck Memorial Episcopal Cemetery, Ponsford.

Aug. 25, 1960-March 10, 2009

Former Ponsford resident David L. Stone, 48, of Walla Walla, Wash., died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Walla Walla.

David Lee Stone was born to Eleanor Stone on Aug. 25, 1960 in White Earth. He was raised in Detroit Lakes until 1965, when David and his family moved to St. Paul, where he attended school. He worked as a mechanic in various states before settling in Washington State to be near his kids. On Sept. 21, 2002 David married Dorothy Walkiewicz in Las Vegas, Nev. They made their home in Woodhaven, Mich., often traveling back to Washington to visit his kids.

David enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching Nascar and football, and spending time with his family and friends, but most importantly, with his children.

Surviving David are his wife Dorothy Stone of Woodhaven, Mich.; his children, Christina Stone, Paris Stone, Kevin Stone, Jennifer Stone and Jonathan Stone, all living in Washington; his mother, Eleanor Stone of Woodbury, Minn.; sisters, Diane Johnson, Cheryl Stone, Carleen Simmons, Lisa Stone and Kari Stone, all of St. Paul; one brother, Kevin Stone, also of St. Paul; and one granddaughter.

Preceding him in death were his grandmother and his many aunts and uncles.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Monday, March 16 and continue until the time of services Tuesday at the Old Pine Point School.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 17 at the Old Pine Point School, Ponsford, with the Rev. Lisa Smith officiating. Interment will be in Breck Memorial Episcopal Cemetery, Ponsford.

Cookie, I am sorry that I did not make to David's funeral, but my prayers and thoughts were with and the rest of the family every day since I head the news. Jeanetta "Poncho" Jones
