Billy Day

William “Billy” Day, 60, of Vergas, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at St. Mary’s Innovis Health in Detroit Lakes, due to an automobile accident. Visitation is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at the Vergas Community Center in Vergas, continuing for one hour prior to services on Sunday. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday March 15, at the Vergas Community Center, with the Rev. Gary Klempke officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Vergas Village Cemetery in Vergas.

William “Billy” Day, 60, of Vergas, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at St. Mary’s Innovis Health in Detroit Lakes, due to an automobile accident.

William “Billy” LeRoy Day Jr. was born to William Sr. and Patricia (Anderson, nee Eastman) Day on March 2, 1949 in Superior, Wis. He lived there for 16 years, until he moved to St. Paul. While in St. Paul, Billy worked numerous jobs, until he moved to Vergas in 1990 and opened Billy’s Corner Bar. He married Verla Bruhn on Nov. 23, 1991 in Frazee. After selling the bar in 1995, he worked in various jobs and has enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing with friends and family.

Surviving Billy are his wife, Verla Day; sons, Brian (Shelley) Day and Shawn (Dell Rae) Day; mother, Patricia Anderson; siblings, Susan (Paul) Merwine, Mike (Colleen) Anderson, Rick (Cheryl) Anderson, and Paul (Dawn) Anderson; a granddaughter and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding Billy in death were his father, William “Bud” Day; stepfather Alvin Anderson; and his best friend, Buster Brown.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at the Vergas Community Center in Vergas, continuing for one hour prior to services on Sunday.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday March 15, at the Vergas Community Center, with the Rev. Gary Klempke officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Vergas Village Cemetery in Vergas.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furey Funeral Home in Frazee.

I was so shocked to hear about your husbands death. My heart and prayers go to you and your family Verla. I know how much Billy meant to you and how much he will be missed by all how knew him. Jane Clarey

I was sorry to hear of Billy's passing. I worked with him at Lakeshirts many years ago. He was always joking around and seemed to care for those around him. I know he used to say how much he loved his wife and a very proud grandpa. I am sure hw will be missed. Michelle Tucker
