Mildred Buck
Mildred L. Buck, 85, of Detroit Lakes, died February 7, 2009 at St. Mary’s Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, with the Rev. H. Wade Dutton officiating. There will be visitation for one hour prior to the start of services. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.

Mildred L. Buck, 85, of Detroit Lakes, died February 7, 2009 at St. Mary’s Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes.
Mildred L. Bogenschutz was born to Christian and Norma (Schmit) Bogenschutz on May 4, 1923 in Perham, where she grew up and received her education. After graduation she worked as a telephone operator in the Perham area, where she met Chester W. Buck and married him on Dec. 25, 1946. They resided in Detroit Lakes for a few years, then moved to Portland, Ore., until returning to Detroit Lakes in 1960.
Over the years Mildred worked as a waitress in various restaurants, an egg candler for Swift’s and finished her working years at the Detroit Lakes movie theater.
Mildred loved spending time fishing and sunbathing at the lakes in the area. She and her husband, Chester, would rent a cabin every summer on Cotton Lake. She was especially fond of dogs (terriers), and you would see her with a dog in her car wherever she went. She was an accomplished baker and would make breads, rolls, cakes and cookies for the neighborhood and family. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, and word search puzzles. She was an avid fan of science fiction movies.
Surviving Mildred are her son, Chester (Esther) Buck of Bayard, Neb.; one granddaughter and two great grandchildren; sister, LoRayne McCulley of Detroit Lakes; a sister-in-law, Delores Buck of Detroit Lakes; and several nephews.
Preceding Mildred in death were her parents and husband, Chester (1982).
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, with the Rev. H. Wade Dutton officiating. There will be visitation for one hour prior to the start of services.
Casket bearers will be Brent Anderson, Donald Weston, Bruce Buck,
George Buck Jr., Brian Buck and Kevin Kildow.
Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
