Estelle Graham

Former Detroit Lakes area resident Estelle Graham, 85, of Grand Forks, N.D., died Sunday, February 8, 2009 in Valley Memorial Homes Eldercare Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. There will be visitation for one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks.

Former Detroit Lakes area resident Estelle Graham, 85, of Grand Forks, N.D., died Sunday, February 8, 2009 in Valley Memorial Homes Eldercare Center.

Estelle Thelma Fiskum, the daughter of Adolph and Ella (Bergquist) Fiskum, was born on Feb. 25, 1923 in Pelican Rapids. Estelle grew up in Moorhead, where she graduated from high school. She attended Concordia College at Moorhead, and later completed her nursing training at Fairview Hospital, Minneapolis, where she became a registered nurse. She married Dr. John Graham in 1949. They lived in Grand Forks after their marriage.

Estelle was a member of P.E.O, and an active member of United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. She enjoyed reading, and especially enjoyed her family and the time spent together at their home on Long Lake, near Detroit Lakes.

Estelle is survived by her children, Scott (Diana Rehling), Graham of St. Cloud, Katherine Mendez, Rachel Graham and Barry (Vicki) Graham, of Yankton, S.D., Jan (Tom) Kukowski of Apple Valley, Minn., Robert (Sue Thompson) Graham of East Grand Forks, Minn., Becky (Bruce) Langford of Edina, Minn., and Judd (Idette) Graham of Fargo; 17 grandchildren, and one great grandson.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Adolph and Ella Fiskum; and her husband, Dr. John Graham, who died in 1987.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. There will be visitation for one hour prior to the service in the church.

Interment will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks. Memorials are preferred to be sent to United Lutheran Church, Grand Forks.
