Diana Ness

Diana T. Ness, 66, of Detroit Lakes, died Thursday, October 30, 2008 at St. Mary’s Innovis Hospital in Detroit Lakes. Friends may call between 2 and 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes; there will be a prayer service at 4 p.m. The visitation will continue for one hour prior to the mass on Monday at the church. A mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes, with the Rev. Jerry Rogers officiating. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery. Diana T. Ness, 66, of Detroit Lakes, died Thursday, October 30, 2008 at St. Mary’s Innovis Hospital in Detroit Lakes.

Diana Theresa Kapela was born to Chester and Rowena (Valincourt) Kapela on Sept. 2, 1942 in Forest Lake, Minn. As a child, she moved with her family to Moorhead. Diana attended St. Francis de Sales Catholic School in Moorhead for grades K-8 and Shanley High School in Fargo, where she was a 1961 graduate.

Following graduation, she was a waitress in her parents’ cafés, Tri-State Café in Moorhead and West Fargo Truck Stop in West Fargo. Diana married Don Ness on Aug. 8, 1964 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Moorhead. They lived in Moorhead until moving to Detroit Lakes in 1970.

Diana enjoyed her family, especially time spent with her children and grandchildren, cooking and baking.

Surviving Diana are her husband, Don Ness of Detroit Lakes; daughter, Dawn (Doug Hoopman) Olson of Detroit Lakes; son, David (Becky) Ness of Mounds View, Minn.; three grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Sunby of Coos Bay, Ore.

Preceding Diana in death were her parents and a daughter, Tracy.

Rest in peace Dianne. You were a great neighbor, thanks for all you did for me and the kids. You wil be missed deeply.
