Richard L. “Skeeter” Beyer, 71, of Waubun, died Thursday, October 23, 2008 at St. Mary’s Innovis Hospital in Detroit Lakes. A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1 at the David-Donehower Funeral home in Detroit Lakes. There will be visitation for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. The David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes is serving the family.

Richard L. “Skeeter” Beyer, 71, of Waubun, died Thursday, October 23, 2008 at St. Mary’s Innovis Hospital in Detroit Lakes.

Richard Lorence Beyer was born to Lorence and Dora (Hohrman) Beyer on Nov. 3, 1936 in rural Tower City, N.D. He grew up around the Detroit Lakes area and attended country school. Richard was drafted into the U.S. Army and had served in Panama. After his honorable discharge, he moved to the Strawberry Lake area in rural Becker Count,y where he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Richard worked together with his father after his time in the service, doing carpentry and electrical work.

Richard is survived by his sisters, Pat (Elmer) Zitzow of Moorhead and Karen (Mike) Johnson of Bemidji; as well as his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dora and Lorence Beyer.

A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1 at the David-Donehower Funeral home in Detroit Lakes. There will be visitation for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. The David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes is serving the family.
