Former Thief River Falls resident Edythe M. Pearson, 96, of Detroit Lakes, died Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Memorial services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes; there will be visitation for one hour prior to the start of services. A graveside service will take place at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, in the Greenwood Cemetery at Thief River Falls. West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes is providing arrangements. Former Thief River Falls resident Edythe M. Pearson, 96, of Detroit Lakes, died Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.

Edythe was born the daughter of Ole and Edna (Jubb) Jaranson on Nov. 19, 1911 in Thief River Falls, where she was raised and educated. Following high school she worked at various jobs in the Thief River Falls community, including the Rex Café, Montgomery Wards and Bjorkman’s Clothing Store.

Edythe married Ervin C. Pearson on Sept. 14, 1935 in Thief River Falls. They lived in Hallock, Warren and Karlstad, Minn., before settling in Thief River Falls. They had one son, Kenneth E. Pearson. Edythe’s favorite thing in life was doing things for other people. She spent thousands of hours volunteering at the Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church Auxiliary and the Eastern Star.

Edythe is survived by her five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Ervin; son Kenneth; brothers Joe, Howard, David and John, and a sister, Clarice Vargo.
