Frances A. Rice, 93, Detroit Lakes, died Monday, May 5, 2008 at St. Mary’s Nursing Center, Detroit Lakes. A funeral service was held Thursday, May 8, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Detroit Lakes. Frances A. Rice, 93, Detroit Lakes, died Monday, May 5, 2008 at St. Mary’s Nursing Center, Detroit Lakes.

Frances was born on Oct. 2, 1914, to Ed and Annetta (Ankerson) Tibbils in Detroit Lakes. She was raised and educated in Detroit Lakes, graduating from Detroit Lakes High. Frances was united in marriage to Carroll Rice on Nov. 5, 1932, in Audubon. She worked as a secretary for Snappy Air Products in Detroit Lakes for 30-plus years.

Frances was an active member of St. Luke’s Epis-copal Church. She enjoyed oil painting, knitting, crocheting, dancing, traveling and gardening.

Frances is survived by her son, John (Sandra) Rice, Far-ibault, Minn.; daughter, Ann Blue, Ruidoso, N.M.; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, June Tibbils of Renton, Wash.; nieces and nephews.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three great grandchildren, Casey, Brocken and Grant; brother, Frank Tibbils, and a sister, Helen Franklin.

A funeral service was held Thursday, May 8, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Detroit Lakes.

Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
