Dennis Warren Augdahl, 74, Alexandria, passed away at his home on March 5, 2013, after a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer. The last couple of months were made possible with the help of his wife, children and hospice.

He was born in Milnor, North Dakota on September 12, 1938 to Phillip and Ethel (Holst) Augdahl. He graduated from Milnor High School in 1956 and the University of North Dakota in 1960 with a degree in accounting. Dennis was then drafted into the Army and served two years at Fort Lewis, Washington.

After his service, he moved to Minneapolis and worked for Dayton’s for five years in the computer department. The next 29 years were spent at U.S. Bank in its data processing department.

Dennis met his future wife, Marlene Andersen, on a blind date set up by Marlene’s sister and Dennis’s cousin. They were married on June 20, 1964 in Viborg, South Dakota. Together they raised three children in Bloomington. Dennis coached many of their youth Bloomington Athletic Association teams.

In his spare time, Dennis served as an advisor for Junior Achievement. He was a long-time member at Transfiguration Lutheran Church and active member of the Golden K. For 25 years he enjoyed boating, water-skiing, and fishing at his cabin on Lobster Lake. He also enjoyed golfing and attending his children’s and grandchild Kayla’s activities. For 15 years, Dennis and Marlene spent winters in Mesa, Arizona.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marlene; three children, Daniel (Becca) Augdahl of Orland Park, Illinois, Kristine Augdahl of Apple Valley, Michael Augdahl of Eden Prairie; and grandchild, Kayla Augdahl. Also surviving are his sister-in-law, Sharon Hanson; nephew, Scott; and niece, Jennifer Swenson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Douglas Augdahl.
