Opahl was born September 24, 1926 in Cando, North Dakota, the daughter of Berthold and Alvina (Bradow) Blake. The family moved to Folden Township when Opahl was a young girl. She attended Lost School District through the 8th grade and graduated from Henning High School in 1944.

On January 13, 1945, Opahl married William “Ted” Wark in Fergus Falls. To this union two children were born, Cheryl Mae and Gail Lynn. The family resided in Almora. During this time, Opahl worked as a medical records librarian for the Parkers Prairie Hospital.

Opahl and Ted enjoyed Sunday drives, traveling the countryside. She also loved playing cards, bingo and the slots. She will be remembered for her love of family, that she was a strong person, she had a gift for gab and loved to give grief to whomever she could.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Rick) Ostlund; grandchildren, Christine Ostlund, Cynthia Ostlund, Brandon Wark and Amanda Wark; great-grandchildren, Ashlee Ostlund, Keegan Spanier, Blaine and Zylia Hernandez, and David Gail Wark; great-great-granddaughter, Braelyn Mae; sisters, Doralean Mosher and Angie Blake; sisters-in-law, Mary Blake and Linda Blake.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; son, Gail, her parents; four sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 11 at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Burial was at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Almora.
