Marjorie Lucille Ohsberg, 91, Alexandria, died March 4, 2013 at home, after a long, valiant battle with adult-onset muscular dystrophy.
Marjorie was born October 1, 1921 on a farm outside of Henning, the youngest child of Henning and Annie (Peterson) Berggren. She graduated from Henning High School in 1940 and then went to the Twin Cities for business school and work. While there, she met George Ohsberg who was a seminary student at Bethel College.
They were married on August 21, 1943 in the First Baptist Church of Henning. Their marriage was blessed with one daughter, Karen, and two grandchildren, Krisi and Jay. They served their first church in Mallaig, Alberta, Canada, and subsequently started new churches in Lindberg, Wyoming, Cambridge, Nebraska, and Thompson, Iowa.
Marjorie taught in several elementary schools during this time. In 1960, they made their home in the Chicago, Illinois area where George was the manager of the book store and she was bookkeeper for the Baptist General Conference for 24 years. In 1984, after retiring, they moved to Stockbridge, Georgia, to be near Karen and family. In 2001, they all moved to Henning, where she was once again an active member of the First Baptist Church.
Marjorie was an avid reader, especially Christian historical novels. As a pastor’s wife, Marjorie loved hosting family and church gatherings. She also enjoyed singing solo and in groups, cooking and collecting recipes.
In 2012, she moved to Alexandria to live with her daughter and grandchildren.
