Viona “Vi” Snyder, 68, died Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.

Viona “Vi” Snyder, 68, died Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.

Vi was born May 1, 1944 in Minneapolis, the daughter of Fernie and Vivian (Carlson) Smith. Vi grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Edison High School.

Viona was united in marriage to Jeffrey Snyder on April 19, 1986 at Incarnation Lutheran Church in Shoreview. The couple resided in the Twin Cities for several years and during this time she obtained her massage therapy license, of which she was very proud. In 2000, the Snyders moved to Alexandria.

Vi loved to go on motorcycles trips. She had a sense for adventure and the couple enjoyed taking several trips to the East Coast and West Coast. The couple also enjoyed several cruises throughout the world. Vi was an active volunteer and was involved with the Jaycees and hospice organization. She was also president of the Lionesses Chapter in Shoreview.

Viona will be remembered as a loving wife and mother.

She is survived by her husband, Jeff; sons, Charles (Carrie) Grafstrom of Lino Lakes, Matt Grafstrom of Vadnais Heights; granddaughter, Lillian; sister, Estella Smith of Shoreview; half-sister, Eleanor Smith of Litchfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and half-brother, Harvey Smith.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 16 at Alexandria Covenant Church in Alexandria. Burial was at Linnea Mission Covenant Cemetery in Vining.
