Elaine (Melfald) Halverson, 74, Roseville, born in Bagley on April 3, 1938, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2013 from leukemia, an unfortunate side effect from treatment she received for amyloidosis.
Elaine (Melfald) Halverson, 74, Roseville, born in Bagley on April 3, 1938, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2013 from leukemia, an unfortunate side effect from treatment she received for amyloidosis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rasmus and Emily (Kise) Melfald; and brother, Russell Melfald (Verna).
Elaine is survived by her husband of 52 years, Hugh “Chuck” Halverson of Roseville; children, Chuck (Julie) Halverson of Brainerd, Marj (Bill Rew) of Roseville, Jane (Harry Straub) of Woodbury; grandchildren, Sean Halverson, Elizabeth Straub, Ashley Rew, Kylie Halverson and Brittany Rew.
Elaine is a graduate of Oak Grove High Lutheran High School in Fargo and NDSCS in Wahpeton. Elaine and Chuck resided in Alexandria from 1973 to 1991, where she was an active member of Bethesda Lutheran Church and Chuck was employed by 3M.
She will be sincerely missed for her compassion, generosity, fabulous cooking and spunky personality.
A memorial service will be held on May 17 (Syttende Mai) at 11 a.m. at Roseville Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on May 17.
Memorials to amyliodosis research at the Mayo Clinic are preferred in lieu of flowers.
