Local hero-- Freddy Dean I met him first when he was the "older guy with a band" when he was 23 and worked at The Music Center. He sure got many 12 year olds interested in music. The last time I saw him was when he did a program at Knute Nelson about 3 years ago for the old folks. I just wonder-- how many times in his 60 year career did he load a guitar in his car and go somewhere to make someone happy. Who can count that high? Good thing there's singin' up in heaven. Karl Tegland Sad news indeed. Dean (as I called him) was my best adult friend during high school. We had lunch together every Saturday, and played music together for four years in some of central Minnesota's finest bars and dance halls! I started playing music with him before I had a driver's license, and I did not finish until I was well into college. We had some great times together. I had two opportunities to visit Dean and Nancy in the past 10 years, and now I am even more grateful for those opportunities.

I will miss Freddie........I worked with him when he was running a 'booking agency' called Entertainment Diversified. He was a great guy............my wife 'Nancy Kay' also sat in with him a number of times. I am sorry for the loss to his family and the community. Greg Linder
