Brian James Salmons, 32, died December 9, 2012 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Brian was born March 7, 1980 in Minneapolis. On September 15, 1981 he met his forever family and adopted Jim and Lou Salmons as his parents on December 12, 1984.

Facing many challenges in his life, with his sweet smile Brian brought joy to his family and countless friends. He finished school in Alexandria and worked at the Douglas County Developmental Achievement Center (DAC) since 2001. For many years, Brian was cared for at home with wonderful nurses who became like family.

Brian loved Christ. He enjoyed music and his favorite song was “Jesus Loves Me.” He had a positive impact on every person he met.

He is survived by his parents, Jim and Lou Salmons; sisters, Jeanette (Sam) West and Sheila Salmons, all of Alexandria; niece, Amberrose (John) Nelson; nephews, Sam Salmons, Dean Judkins, Tom Judkins, Gary Judkins; and great-niece (and namesake) Bryin Janyne Nelson.

A funeral service for Brian was held Wednesday, December 12 at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria with Melody Warren officiating. Music was provided by Jon Gaugert. Honorary casket bearers were Brian’s niece and nephews; Amberrose Nelson, Sam Salmons, Dean Judkins, Tom Judkins, Gary Judkins and John Nelson.
