Helen Cecilia Faust, 81, died Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Knute Nelson in Alexandria.
Helen was born November 21, 1931 in St. Cloud, the daughter of Martin and Cecilia (Zierden) Hick. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1949. She continued her education by attending St. Gabriel School of Nursing in Little Falls and then graduated from Loyola University in Chicago as a registered nurse.
Helen was united in marriage to Anthony Faust on September 12, 1957 in St. Cloud. Three children were born to this marriage, Mary, Joseph and Jane. Helen and her family lived in Minneapolis and in 1968, they moved to Alexandria. Helen worked at Bethany Home and Knute Nelson.
Helen was an artistic woman who liked to spend her time painting, pencil sketching and using watercolors. She enjoyed music and enjoyed playing the piano. Helen loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with Tony to different state parks around the state. She also enjoyed craft fairs and attending shows through the Alexandria Area Arts Association. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary (Calvin) Hertel of Sauk Rapids, Jane (Steve) Daffinrud of Sartell; son, Joseph (Lori) Faust of Alexandria; six grandchildren, David Hertel of Fargo, ND, Jeniece (Ken) Vance of Aberdeen, SD, Alyssa Faust of Alexandria, Mikaela Faust of Alexandria, Daniel Daffinrud of Sartell, and Nick Daffinrud of Sartell; four great-grandchildren, Grace, Eden, Arica and Kenny; nephew, Ron Hick of Minneapolis; and brother-in-law, Francis Faust of Rogers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Anthony Faust.
A funeral service was held Thursday, December 6 at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria with Father Steve Binsfeld officiating. Interment was at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in St. Cloud.
