A law enforcement official surveyed the scene of a snowmobile crash that took place Friday around 8 p.m. on the Central Lakes Trail near Liberty Road east of Alexandria. An off-duty Alexandria police officer, Patrick Callaghan, died early Saturday morning as a result of the crash.
