This image shows an artist’s rendering of the proposed Alexandria Area YMCA, set to be located along County Road 82. The estimated $8.89 million, 56,000 square-foot facility will be named after local businessman and philanthropist Maynard “Bud” Peterson, who died Sunday, and his late wife Sylvia, who died in 2003. Peterson donated $1.5 million to the YMCA last fall. Local YMCA leaders have just over two weeks to raise an additional $1.6 million needed to build the facility and complete the year-long campaign.
