Lake Carlos Park Area Naturalist Alex Watson grabbed a pair of replicated loon wings. The average loon’s wingspan is about five feet wide, almost the same size as a bald eagle. Loons are able to fly approximately 75 miles per hour and can dive and sit underwater for about five minutes, according to Watson.
