A 'happy pastor' bids farewell

Pastor John Peshek of Alexandria admitted he would not have been voted “most likely to become a pastor.” And he knew he didn’t want to milk cows for a career. Peshek grew up on a small dairy farm in Fairfield, Nebraska. “That probably influenced who I am,” he said. The John Deere replicas displayed in his parish office indicate that he hasn’t forgotten his farming roots.

Teen Book Club meeting to be held at county library

The Douglas County Library in Alexandria will host the first meeting of the Teen Book Club on Wednesday, February 15 at 3:30 p.m.

Children ages 3-10 are invited to the Douglas County Library in Alexandria for a Pinkalicious Party on Thursday, February 9 at 3:30 p.m.

Alexandria hosted the Region 8AA Central Solo and Ensemble Contest on Wednesday, January 25. Participating schools included Alexandria, Brainerd, Little Falls, Sartell, Sauk Rapids-Rice and Willmar.

It had been ages since I’d thought of those classic sweet treats with a cookie-like mixture sandwiching soft, creamy date filling. I hadn’t even noticed that date bars seem to have gone out of fashion.

Each boy took a turn behind and in front of the lens as they took photos of each other riding a unicycle. In June, they submitted two photos they felt had just the right composition. The boys soon learned that Corage’s photo of Pfeffer riding the unicycle was selected by the Jones Soda staff as a favorite and displayed on the website for people to cast their votes.
