A 'happy pastor' bids farewell
Pastor John Peshek of Alexandria admitted he would not have been voted “most likely to become a pastor.” And he knew he didn’t want to milk cows for a career. Peshek grew up on a small dairy farm in Fairfield, Nebraska. “That probably influenced who I am,” he said. The John Deere replicas displayed in his parish office indicate that he hasn’t forgotten his farming roots.

JHS students fare well at region solo, ensemble competition
Alexandria hosted the Region 8AA Central Solo and Ensemble Contest on Wednesday, January 25. Participating schools included Alexandria, Brainerd, Little Falls, Sartell, Sauk Rapids-Rice and Willmar.

The Jefferson High School and Discovery Middle School speech teams came together to go head-to-head with some central Minnesota teams at Fergus Falls High School on Saturday, January 28.

Not long ago, I received an email from a reader asking me if I had an excellent recipe for date bars. It had been ages since I’d thought of those classic sweet treats with a cookie-like mixture sandwiching soft, creamy date filling. I hadn’t even noticed that date bars seem to have gone out of fashion.
