Is it hard to include the original author of a piece, or to let folks know at the top, that it is a re-print with the authors permission to copy it? I got all the way thru, thinking, wow, our editorial staff is really on the ball...just to find that they didn't pen this article. This is a copy/paste and has been displayed in several online editions of newpapers around the country. I appreciate it's information, and the Sunlight Foundation's goal. How about a followup editorial where someone actually does their homework, and finds those websites dedicated to keeping an eye on government, by providing databases and links to public information? Now THAT would be great! I've collected a some on my favorites...and IMO, they are worthwhile to visit if folks wish to know more than whats printed or said in the news. It's not too tough to find the info...but one has to know where to start looking and what to put in the search bar. There are several websites dedicated to pooling their resources and offering it in an easier to use, searchable database focused on providing detailed information that is public, but often obscured under different categories or titles.
