LM, have you seen all the robins? Was over to the cousin's last weekend, and I could of sworn there was a scarlet tanager over there. Used to have one that came by here every spring, but haven't seen it in a couple years. Had a whole flock of indigo buntings at the feeder two years ago. Now, I'm wondering what the heck I've seen. Looks just like a golden finch, but half the normal size. Runt?

Kay - Although I'm not much of a cook, I cannot wait to get out in my garden either. This time of year is the best. It seems that with each day, new birds arrive back for the summer.

That IS a good idea, Kay! Way too few families even eat together these days, much less cook together. Lucky kids....darn few mothers who will stay home and raise their kids anymore. And Steve, after all the conflict of the last year and a half or so, ya gotta admit it's kind of nice to get a breather for a while.

Kay, have you watched the new PBS Digital Channels? 10-2 is called Create and it is a fantastic channel for kids of all ages. Just go to http://createtv.com/CreateProgram.nsf/ScheduleLookup?ReadForm There are four PBS channels we can view here including channel 30 UHF which makes 5 but probably is the same as one of the others.

Kay, I admire your clever idea to help kids learn how to prepare and present meals. WOW & Kudos to you and your family.

bac..I have to agree with you...the History Channel, is more enlightening. I personally like the Food Network. Food is culture. I've learned to try a lot of new stuff and my kids love to explore new flavors. Once a week, they do a "Iron Chef" competition. I pick the main ingredient and they have to create something in a set amount of time using whatever ingredients I have on hand, plate it and present it for judging. The last one was Cod. Three different interpretations, decoratively served by three budding food chef/critics. I must say, it wasn't bad at all, in fact one kid's dish was pretty darn good. They have been paying attention to Food Network, and have learned a thing or two already from me already. I can't hardly wait for spring to get here and I can plant my herbs outside and the rest of the garden. It's safe to say that we will get to explore all kinds of new concoctions and tastes.

Evening shift? I've found that the later it gets, the more apt there is to be some kind of wild free for all that ends up getting deleted the next day anyhow. I'd rather go watch something on History or the Travel Channel.
