Pretty sure most of the crimes being commited are by white people. Look in the courthouse on any given business day. They sure are not very black in there. Mostly local white trash. Seems to be a WHOLE lot of that. I saw a guy going to court the othere day (white) and he had holes in his pants, he was unshaven and really quite scummy. I could not believe he was going to court dressed like this. Until I turned the corner and saw 30-40 more people in the same state of disarray. To say that the black population of Alexandria is the cause of these crimes is ridiculous. Sure they have com mited some, I am not disputing that. It just seems to me that we had a courthouse that was being swamped long before our so called divesity showed up.

Cameras are a good start and don't forget to have them on the exterior too, that might lend to getting a vehicle or better view of identity. Might as well make it a point that it is noticable that activity is being monitored as well. I've been to several gas stations and they have the viewing screens right there with the cashier. It does little good to bother with fake cameras, as pointed out, they offer NOTHING in the event they might be needed to identify someone or video document an incident. I hesitate to recommend than anyone try to be hero...and employers should address that instinct, and help by providing a protocol for their employees to follow. It's also helpful for management to run a few description practices, asking employees to describe someone that just left...what they were wearing, eye color, hair color height, build etc. You would be surprised at how many people do not notice those details...and their ability to remember those details often fails to produce a good description of someone who just stood face to face with them only a few minutes prior.

You do realize that you could buy a $100 wireless camera, connect it to your business pc with the right software and it will record any and all activity to your hard drive. Really quite cheap. Any IT guy worth his salt can set up such a system, and maybe actually catch these clowns before someone gets hurt.

Installing fake cameras? sounds good, however if something were to seriously happen or the suspect can be clearly I.D'd, then all you have to work on is witnesses, which history has shown is not 100% accurate. In my opinion, robbers, vandals, etc are going to continue what they are doing if people are not going to do anything about it. I'm not saying to put yourself in harms way or be the trademark hero, I would just take that extra step to make sure he is caught. Write down plate numbers, descriptions of clothing, and I would go as far as follow them at a distance and relay there location police with a cellphone. but that's me and I may be wrong.

Install fake cameras - they sell them for under $100 for a 5 pack. They have false cords, run on batterys and have a red blinking light to give the appearance of a camera. High security is a reason for someone not to rob a place. If they come in to take a peek and see tons of cameras they wouldnt rob you. $100 per store would be much better than allowing your place of business to be robbed. They look 100% real. I own a business in alexandria and I have 4 of them installed and just the thought of the camera being there is too scary and we have never been robbed or stolen from.
