True, ryan. Most theaters make the biggest profit off the snackbar. And the studios get a pretty large percentage of the gate, and pretty much control what movies are available at what theaters. If you're the owner of a 'single screener', you're relegated to only getting the second runs, movies that have been out for a month or more. That, as much as anything, has killed all the little theaters in the small town. No multiplex, old movies. Personally, I just can't believe that the Long in Long Prairie has done as well as they have.

i hate to break it to you but the movie theater is a business too. it would be nice if they could show every movie but, if their not gonna make a profit their not gonna show it so its got nothing to do with "literary" movies , u cant make a profit from just a handful of movie goers
