Having just crossed over this bridge I assure you it ain't that easy. I started walking this road when dad was aged 89 and at age 91 FINALLY got him off the road. The parent fears the loss of independence, the doctor doesn't want to be "the bad guy" to someone s/he's known most of their lives, DMV won't act without specific incidence(s) and APD is too busy to watch for any one particular driver. However, they will put an officer on OT to "tail" the driver if you'll pay the OT expenses. After months of arm twisting DMV finally sent notice for "re-evaluation" and dad let his license expire rather than go through the physical, eye exam and written/road testing.
