You bet. It's going to get real ugly in China when a generation of hormonally charged males find that they can't get a date. Rosie can only do so much.

bac, not only China, but India too. I just got done reading a BBC piece on the subject. Apparently, the message that girls are less important is imparted at an early age. The boys grow up with that prejudice.

China, right? I don't know if it's true or not, but I read once that the more virile the male, the more likely he is to sire female children. My best friend's brother is married to a Chinese national, and I'm hearing from them that China is having a real problem with finding mates for all the male children these days. In China, it's a real status thing to have male heirs, and they've been aborting the female fetus for some time. Now they've got all these young men and no wives for them.....that ought to really cut down the population even more.

Speaking of barbaric attitudes...just when did science figure out that it was the man's half of the union that determined the gender of the baby? How many wives did King Henry go thru again? How many wives thru-out history received scorn for their perceived failure to produce a male heir? Today, we not only know how it works, but try to maipulate it both with science, or old-wives' tales.. In some countries, they even practice selective abortions, based on gender of the fetus.

The link is good, but for those who won't read other peoples material. It involves one of our diverse guests who threw his 3 month old daughter into a river in NJ. He likes living in the stone ages

Mike, although your link seemed to be a dead end, I was able to find a few things out about 13th century abortions. Doesn't sound like the techniques had progressed a whole lot from that time to just before the law changed in this country. Wow, jumping up and down, sharp instruments, herbal suppositories. Crude.

Speaking of "hats" I found it funny, that a Pixar film (Cars) which happens to be my son's favorite animated movie right now, would portray the "tin-foil" hat character to be the hippie. "Fillmore", the VW Bus, stereotypically painted and the late George Carlin is the voice, and he believes the gas companies are lying to the public. "It's all a conspiracy, man." I guess hippies can don the "hat" too.
