I believe this article is somewhat misleading. Many elements and compounds may well be absorbed through the skin.(toxic or not) This is especially true in areas of soft, damp skin, such as the ear lobe, the armpit and groin area. The mode of entry and toxic dose is different for varying forms of whatever element(s). The implication of this article is such that if the children do not ingest or suck on this jewelery, it is safe. I do not believe this to be true, because of the body absorbing through the skin. Don't forget to check out the earings. These stems are seldom removed and the lobe often swollen or infected. I do not understand why some parents need to ornate their very suspectible little children like a Christmas tree anyway.
