It may come to a day when HS sports are not a "requirement" of public education or even offered. Not that I wish to see that day come, because for many kids, it's what keeps their grades up and in school to begin with. Smaller districts are already facing serious cutbacks and limited funds for their existing programs and we, as a state, are supposed to worry about building a home for the Vikings and a place for HS tournements? Where were they held prior to the DOME? Can't we look to the U of M facility? Seriously, if every MN dollar thrown at politicians and political parties was funneled towards a new stadium instead, in 2008 it was nearly $40 MILLION and already in this election cycle at $6 million, they would have all the money needed to make it happen. Perhaps they can figure out a way to pay DIVIDENDS or profit sharing, if folks chose to INVEST in the stadium themselves. With all that is going on nationwide, our economy in the tank and the majority of everyday folks are worried if the will have a job next week, a new stadium hardly seems an obvious place to put our concerns on. Don't expect taxpayers to be receptive of the plan to push for ANOTHER new stadium. WE ARE TIRED being asked.
