Kerry H - I agree. Religious extremism is alive and well. In many cases it is encouraged by governments. An example of this would be the continous C02 Global Warming Cult indoctrination of our children within our public schools.

I agree, Kerry H. Justification to do what they wanted to do all along but with a Supreme being giving approval.

Throughout history humans have used religion as a rationale for killing, enslaving, torturing, and discriminating against others. It's still going on today. People use the Koran, bible, or whatever to defend their treatment of others. Some of the worst people in history (and today) use religion to convince their followers to do horrible acts against humanity. There is something about getting some kind of reward after you die that convinces people that they can treat others unfairly, inhumanely, and even kill them on earth as long as they can rationalize it that their beliefs told them it was what their god commanded them to do.

I think they can cover it all with the "free choice" argument or some such thing. Careful, Kerry H., you might sound like a person that believes in the "Big Bang" and the "thou shalt not kill" er's might decide to get you. Wasn't there something about "vengence is mine sayeth the Lord" so where does it give anybody the right to death penalties? Maybe in the name of the Lord we can do it for him if he is too busy somewhere else to deal with the issue? How many murderers did Jesus kill? How many babies did He agree should be aborted? How many funerals did he attend or how many church services? Where do men manage to find authority to make up all of the rules that they claim are the law according God or Jesus?

Wouldn't an all-knowing god know who the murderers are going to be even while they are still in the womb? If so, why would that god allow them to be born just so they can rape, torture, and murder others? Maybe the worst of the worst are the ones he/she allows to be aborted. Who knows??

the difference between being against abortions and for the death penalty are really simple. an unborn child has not the chance to make a choice. the person on death row did have the chance to make a choice. i am definately against abortion, and very strongly support the death penalty. so i guess i would be conciderd what by most? people who want the death penalty stopped, should then want abortion's to stop. the problem that i personally know several people who have had an abortion would be that they used it as an excuse to run away from responsibility. so i say stop abortion's and texas, florida, virgina, and any other state who uses the death penalty, keep up the good work.

I am a Christian, born-again the Bible way. I am pro-life. I do NOT, I repeat, I do NOT, condone the bombing of abortion clinics or the killings of doctors who perform abortion. I do NOT approve of abortion even in the case of incest or rape. Please do NOT put me in a catagory you have formed in your "opinion". Thank you.

I am being as specific as I can, Steve H. The people I have a problem with are the ones that state they are pro life and then find excuses why murder should be allowed. People that spout religious reasons such as "Thou shalt not kill" and then say "except in cases of rape or incest or bombing abortion clinics". I have a problem with pro life hypocrites that start laying God on me and then start deciding they can change the rules to suit their own opinions and purposes. I have no problems with anybody else. No problems with pro life people that believe that killing is wrong and don't make excuses why some killings should be justified. Is that specific enough?

I'm on the fence. Which is why I don't post an opinon. But I have no doubt that the vast majority of anti-abortion people are just offended by abortion clinic bombings as you are - which is why I think you need to be a bit more specific about the people you have a problem with.

GP K, what a great idea! For posters to actually post their opinion on an opinion page rather than using it to only attack others. I wonder if it will catch on. I can think of one poster who has been posting for years but has yet to post his own opinion on any subject being discussed.
