oh I know it too well - did you ever notice how dogs just love to roll in dead garter snakes? I get 'em with a mower once and a while - my one lab just loves to roll in it - YUCK!

Steve, some dawgs just can't control the urge to cover their scent. Best dawg I ever had, (collie/german sheperd cross) just loved that. Find a dead whatever that was to the "puddle" stage, and he'd roll in it for all he was worth. At least, he was bright enough to avoid the skunks.after one runin.

like minded - there seems to be a pattern developing here.......you do know the difference between a skunk and a dog, don't you???

b.a. c. - Good point. Nasty odors can also bring back good memories. The smell of rotting fish in the summertime reminds me of a dog I had while growing up. The "deader the better" was the general rule for his rolling adventures. Driving home from the lake for two hours with him in a hot station wagon loaded with humanity was not funny at the time, but I laugh about it now.

.....the aroma of homemade bread in Grandma's oven......whiff of hot dogs at a ball game.....smell of popcorn at a movie theater.......smell of someone grilling burgers at a park..........the odor or lutefisk at the small town lutheran church, oh crap, I just ruined it!

Or the smell of that cleaning shack that the Shady Rest had on Amelia 40 some years ago.

One of my triggers is the mixed gas and oil exhaust coming from an outboard boat motor. Mmmmm, great memories from the lake.

well, like-minded, you sure know how to put an end to the stroll down memory lane by raising a big stink about it.

lol! ;) Yessiree...it's my dog. Her air biscuits are mellow, yet potent enough to clear out a room.
