b a c, that sounds like good behavior is purchased rather than expected. Today, a comic book . Tomorrow a bike or car. All just for not whining. Dad, I'm a little short on my credit card payment.

Wonder what ever happened to parents telling the kid, "If you behave yourself in the store, you can have either a comic book or a candy bar. One. Otherwise, we'll go home and you get nothing."

The time to learn that is when you cry for a toy or candy at the store and your parents either get if for you or explain why it needs to wait. Or, you can learn it from credit counselors when you need to study your priorities.

This should be interesting to see other ideas. My Grandmother was an extreme penny-pincher, from her I learned to be moderately penny-wise and at times extremely resourceful with limited funds. With a family size of 8, I've learned many creative ways to save a buck or two here and there and we still get to enjoy many things that others do, just within moderation. The things we don't do or have, are not really things that we NEED to do or have. When there is extra, we do treat ourselves, and I feel that the practice of moderate restraint of our spending teaches my kids how to determine the difference between WANT and NEED.
