I thought this stunk when the news broke, and I still do. His story was so weak that I can't believe that he never was convicted.

This has nothing to do with the fact that Ted Kennedy was Irish Catholic. It has nothing to do with Right or Left. It has everything to do with what is Right and what is Wrong. When Ted crashed his car off the bridge that July evening with Mary Jo inside...he failed to report the accident until the following morning. True Casey...it was 1969, and the laws were alot different then...but the laws of what is Right and Wrong regarding human life haven't changed. It doesn't matter if Mary Jo was his mistress, business associate, or his housekeeper.

Casey, just answer me one thing. Do you think justice was served in this case?

Is it fact that she was his girlfriend? What were the drunk driving laws and punishment back then? Remember, they didn't have breath tests or blood test. Seems to me, the laws were, field tests at the time of driving, walk a line, touch nose. There would not have been any way to prove he had been drinking too much. I don't believe they had suspicion charges back then either, like they do now.

You have both hit the nail on the head. The fact that he might have done good deeds does not diminish the ugly deeds!

I had a difficult time getting past the Kennedy's life style and hypocrisy. Therefore I could never take an interest in any of his legislation, be it good bad or indifferent. If Kennedy's had been Smith's who lived in a tenement he would have served more time in jail than in the congress. A lot of the younger people don’t recall what the Kennedy’s were about so they don’t understand why we feel the way we do about them. Others either hate him or love him depending upon which political party they are lead by.
