Patty said: "....she may have been saved if help had been sought out immediately". Buck U said: "She may have survived if he had gotten help right away". I guess we don't "differ" all that much do we. As far as "the law" goes, there is no way to know if he was driving drunk. Unfortunately. If he had reported the accident right away, we would know if he was driving drunk..or not. As I said in both of my comments on this thread, I do not think justice was served following the incident at Chappaquiddick. This letter has brought back a lot of memories. I went to "Google" and typed in "Chappaquiddick" and read for several hours.

Buck, The link to an interview of the diver that I posted earlier showed the 'negotiation' behind the scenes. The estimated speed in the 40's MPH was scaled down to less than 20 MPH. Difference being, no manslaughter charge. The witness was audited 3 times in one year by the IRS. Speaks for itself and how power corrupts.

When you decide to drive while drunk and it results in a death, you killed them. I believe it is called manslaughter in the courts and is a felony which typically results in a prison term and that is not even counting leaving the scene and not reporting the accident until morning to sober up. She may have survived if he had gotten help right away. That he would have any credibility for the rest of his life is laughable.

Amos A - I agree, and unfortunately it seems the longer they stay in office, the more out of touch they become. All they need to do is bring home just enough bacon to get themselves reelected.

In my opinion a life of politics does not equal a life of public service. A cop, a fireman, an EMT, a First Responder, a career military person, etc. Someone who actually serves the public. They deserve my respect. A career politician, on the other hand, (especially one who can get attention just because of a family connection) means nothing to me. A career politician MAY be able to make more money in the private sector. But he would have to prove his worth first. The only way to succeed in the private sector is to deliver ON your promises. In politics all you have to do is deliver promises. The way the current system works, once you're entrenched in the political system it's next to impossible for you to lose your job due to the seniority and the associated committee seats that go along with it. For example, Collin Peterson is the Chairman of the House Ag committee. Even if a better qualified candidate runs from his district, who from rural (farm community) MN would risk his seat to a freshman representative? Or Mary Ellen Otremba? Near as I can tell, she is the Chair for 5 MN House committees. Who will risk that for a freshman representative?

Dylan is calling for people to "LET IT GO" . Wonder if it wasn't a Kennedy or Clinton who laundry was hung out, would a similar request be made. Anyone care to discuss how much mileage she got from John McCains POW years or GWB getting a DWI. Maybe , some deferments for D Cheney. Yeah right, let it go, like a pit bull.

Wonder if the Kennedys took advantage of that amnesty to declare the overseas wealth? Since Switzerland and some other countries were forced to give up names of American accountholders, there's been quite a few who did. And it sounds like they ratted out some of their accomplices also. Last news I saw on that was that there's 'tens of billions' of dollars that are coming in.

mike j - You hit the nail right on the head, "Or was his charity done with public money? It's easy to spend other peoples money and pat yourself on the back for your sacrifice." From what I understand, Kennedy money is in offshore trust funds, therefore exempt from the taxes everybody else has to pay. His good works (aka redistribution of wealth) never included his own money to begin with.

So, Joan is an alcoholic and dylan points it out because she didn't stand by her man. I believe Teddy was known to take a drink or two. Al Franken's wife is also an alcoholic. (wonder why)??? It's only a stigma if it's someone else. Not one of her heros. But, never miss a chance to dredge up dirt on the right. Tell us, dylan, about your former mayor. Accomplish a lot for the masses?? got reelected. the cocaine use must be acceptable to the people in our nations capitol. didn't hurt Obowma, either. Moral standards don't mean as much to the left, I guess. unless, they use them to smear the right.

Dylan's giving a pass to all of kennedy's transgressions and searched out any dirt she could to hang anyone on the right with similar offenses. Her kool-aid addiction is showing through. A woman died and it's glossed over by accomplishments listed from left wing rhetoric sites. HYPOCRITE. Did anyone see the windmills in kennedy's back yard? The homeless camping out in his yard, getting sailboat rides? Or was his charity done with public money? It's easy to spend other peoples money and pat yourself on the back for your sacrifice.
