That's all good stuff...except becoming vegetarian. Not in my lifetime. The Creator gave me canine teeth for a reason. PETA = People for Eating Tasty Animals......

Dylan, The number of stars doesn't mean much to me...organizational efficiency as determined by doing the math means something. "Friends of Animals" operates at a deficit yet has four out of four stars according to your source. I expect that the organization I donate to will minimize overhead expense and put a large percent into the stated goal. 24% overhead still seems high to me but donate as you will. I encourage donations to any charity of choice.

Ah, yes, Lee P....and with the Guinea Pig you get four legs, smallish indeed, but legs all the same. With a chicken, only two. :) I love lutefisk. I confess. Well, maybe it's the drawn butter and cream sauce that I like. I have a friend whose kids LOVE peanut butter burgers. I can't work my way past THAT one.

Dylan, yes I did. You mean the one where he had the peanut butter burger? Now, that was nasty! Still, it wasn't a bad episode, with the wild rice and fishhead soup. From what little bio I've seen on the guy, he was born in New York City, and moved to MN recently. Bloomington, I think. Can't blame him on the lutefisk, much. I've tried it twice, liked it the second time, but that was because my Polish roommate at vo-tech made it. Boiled it in his pillowcase. Still, lefse is about the best! (unless you've ever had potato pancakes w/ corn syrup).

1. It's your money to donate. I look at the efficiency at the efficiency of the organizations I give to and according to Forbes listing of charitable organizations Heifer is at 76% which seems like a lot of overhead to me. There are much more efficient organizations and your $ dollar helps our own needy and/or medical research. But again, it's your choice. 2. I'd have no issue with at least tasting a guinea pig. And Dylan is correct; they are also eaten in Peru. They are vegetarian and exceptionally clean as compared to a chicken that will eat anything that resembles food (including other chickens) and as for clean....well look at any chicken yard.....

I've been to one of the places in Minneapolis that serves Guinea Pig. It's the only item on their menu that's entirely in Spanish. Pretty expensive, though. A friend had it last summer during a vacation in South America. He said that while it was very tasty, there wasn't a lot of meat to be had. Still, after watching Andrew Zimmern, there's a lot of things that I'd be willing to try that I never thought of before.
